They Shall Not Grow Old - Zoom discussion

Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 4:00 PM until 5:30 PMEastern Daylight Time

Join LLI participants this summer for the viewing of They Shall Not Grow Old, a 2016 documentary film directed and produced by Peter Jackson, and a facilitated discussion with LLI Board Chair, Michael Kay.

This film was created using original footage of the First World War from the Imperial War Museum’s archives, most previously unseen, all over 100 years old by the time of release.  Audio is from BBC and Imperial War Museum interviews of British servicemen who fought in the conflict.  Most of the footage has been colorized and transformed with modern production techniques, and the addition of sound effects and voice acting to be more evocative and feel closer to the soldiers’ actual experiences.  The movie was nominated by the Cinema for Peace for the “Most Valuable Documentary of 2019”.
